Business telecommunications provider, Digital Island, has successfully completed a three month pilot of its 3G mobile product. Digital Island is now offering 3G business mobile services to the open market. This is the latest milestone in Telecom Wholesale’s first MVNO deal, inked with Digital Island in 2009.

Telecom New Zealand is already planning to upgrade its 3G XT network to 42Mbps during 2010. While the company only launched its 3G network earlier this year, Telecom NZ CEO Paul Reynolds said the XT network will be upgraded to 21Mbps speeds by the end of this year – with the speed to be doubled once again soon afterwards.

Telecom Wholesale has chosen to bring forward Digital Island's access to the new Telecom mobile network to April 2010, a year earlier than originally planned. Digital Island will soft-launch the new network in April 2010, and move to a full service within two months.
